Protecting and capitalising on Intellectual Property in technology

Along with Muckle LLP and Lombard Technology Services Ltd, Tait Walker are jointly hosting a seminar to explain how businesses can protect their Intellectual Property (IP), capture the value of their intangible assets and release cash locked into the development of business critical software.
The event will be taking place on Tuesday 30th June, 2015 at Muckle LLP, Newcastle.
The seminar will address three key topics:
1. Protecting and defending your IP
Alex Craig, Partner at Muckle LLP will talk about what IP is, ownership rights, the importance of written contracts when dealing with IP and what can go wrong when ownership rights and contractual intentions are not documented.
2. Releasing cash locked in software development
David Forbes, Regional Sales Director at Lombard Technology Services Ltd (LTS) will talk about a Software Licence Solution from Lombard Technology Services (LTS) which is an innovative asset finance product that can support business growth by releasing precious cash locked into development of business critical software.
3. How IP is valued and available tax reliefs
Chris McCourt, associate partner at Tait Walker will talk about how IP is typically valued, what that means in the context of valuing your business for a transaction or a sale and leaseback of IP, and how the tax reliefs available can enhance value if planned in the right way.
Bob Paton, Managing Director of the Accenture Delivery Centre will chair the seminar and questions from the audience. He specialises in the implementation of large scale IT systems and is Chief Executive of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
